Chapter 9 - The Trap Springs Shut at the Abandoned Steel Mill

Alarms blared. Gunfire erupted like rolling thunder across the vast steel mill.
Dominic Valente breached the smoke and debris like a god of war. With ruthless
precision, his dual pistols flashed in the darkness, dropping three of Moretti’s
lieutenants before they could raise their assault rifles.
Marco and the Valente strike team swept through the hallways, neutralizing
enemies with brutal efficiency.
Moretti panicked. “Kill them! Kill the woman! Take the child!” he screamed to
his remaining bodyguards.
A mercenary drew a machete and lunged toward the crate where Sophie was crying.
“SOPHIE!” Clara screamed, throwing herself against the ropes binding her chair
until the wood splintered.
Before the mercenary could reach the child, a heavy combat knife pierced
straight through his throat, pinning him against the concrete pillar.
Dominic stepped out of the smoke, his eyes locked onto Clara.
Clara gasped, tears cutting clean tracks through the grime on her face.
“Dominic...”
Moretti dove behind an iron boiler, pulling out a remote detonator. “Stay back,
Valente! The whole basement is rigged with C4! You step one inch closer, and I
blow this place to hell!”
Dominic didn't stop walking. His boots crunched over broken glass, completely
unbothered by the threat of death.
“You made three fatal mistakes, Moretti,” Dominic said, his deep voice cutting
through the smoke like a razor.
Moretti’s hand trembled over the trigger. “What are you talking about?!”
“First, you allied with a traitor. Second, you set foot in my city.” Dominic

raised his weapon, leveling it directly between Moretti’s eyes. “And third...
you made my daughter cry.”
