Chapter 14 - The Rebirth of an Empire

Six months later.

The spring sun warmed the terrace of the newly unveiled Vance Global
Headquarters on Fifth Avenue.

The stock price of Vance Global had not collapsed as Adrian had predicted;
instead, following the aggressive restructuring, the recovery of stolen assets,
and the launch of the Vance Innovation Trust, the company’s valuation had surged
by thirty-five percent, reaching an all-time high of $18 billion.

Vivian stood near the glass railing of the rooftop garden, looking out over the
panoramic skyline of Manhattan. She held a glass of sparkling cider in her hand.

Her physical recovery was complete. Her heart was strong, her mind was clear,
and the shadow that had darkened her life for seven years had been completely
eradicated.

"A penny for your thoughts?" a deep, familiar voice asked.

Vivian turned to see Raymond Sterling walking across the slate patio. He had
abandoned his usual stiff courtroom armor, wearing an open-collared linen shirt
and a light tailored blazer. He held two crystal flutes.

"I was just thinking," Vivian said with a soft, genuine smile, "about how quiet
everything is."

"Peace is an expensive commodity," Raymond said, leaning against the railing
beside her. "You fought hard to earn it."

"We fought hard," Vivian corrected gently, clinking her glass against his. "I
couldn't have done it without you, Raymond. You saved my father’s legacy. And
you saved me."

Raymond looked at her, his expression softening into an honesty he had kept
guarded for years.

"Your father asked me to look after you when he passed, Vivian," Raymond
murmured softly. "But the truth is... I didn't stay by your side because of
Arthur. I stayed because I’ve believed in you since the day we met."

Vivian looked into Raymond’s eyes. There was no deceit there. No calculating
ambition. No hidden hunger for her family’s fortune. There was only mutual
respect, fierce loyalty, and a deep, enduring affection that had weathered the
fiercest storm.

Vivian reached out and gently laid her hand over his on the marble railing.

"Marina told me the Lake Tahoe estate renovations are finished," Vivian said,
her eyes twinkling with a playful warmth. "The old locks are gone. The new art
is hung. And there’s an entire guest wing with a private library."

Raymond smiled, his fingers lightly curling around hers. "Is that an invitation,
Mrs. Vance?"

"It’s an invitation, Mr. Sterling," Vivian replied softly. "Let’s leave the city
behind for a few weeks."
