Chapter 11 - The Press Conference That Broke the Internet

On Friday morning, the grand auditorium of the New York Financial Center was
packed to absolute capacity. Over two hundred journalists from The Wall Street
Journal, Bloomberg, The New York Times, and international television networks
sat with microphones and broadcast cameras ready.
At precisely 10:00 AM, Vivian Vance stepped onto the stage.
She didn't hide behind spokespeople or PR representatives. She walked up to the
podium alone, dressed in a sleek midnight-navy suit, looking radiant, poised,
and utterly sovereign.
The auditorium fell into an immediate, breathless hush.
"Good morning," Vivian began, her voice ringing clear and resonant through every
speaker in the hall. "Over the past week, there has been extensive media
speculation regarding the sudden restructuring of Cole & Vance Developments, as
well as the private conduct of its former executive."
Vivian pressed a remote control.
The massive digital screen behind her illuminated.
Displayed on the screen, side by side, were three devastating pieces of
evidence:
1. The Certified Hospital Telemetry & Surgical Log: Timestamped 2:14 PM on
October 12th, showing Vivian Vance in critical cardiovascular surgery with
an active arterial hemorrhage.
2. The Aspen Livestream Capture: Timestamped 2:18 PM on the exact same day,
showing Adrian Cole kissing Celeste Grant and declaring her 'the woman he
truly wanted.'
3. The FinCEN Wire Trace Diagram: Illustrating the unauthorized, forged $10
million transfer from the Vance Trust to Celeste Grant's offshore accounts.
The flashbulbs in the auditorium exploded in a frantic, blinding cascade.
Reporters began typing furiously on their laptops.
"For seven years," Vivian continued, her tone steady, controlled, and
commanding, "I believed that my marriage was a partnership of equals. Last week,
while I was fighting for my life on an operating table, Mr. Cole chose to
celebrate his betrayal before a global audience, believing my imminent death
would permanently conceal his financial crimes."
Vivian looked directly into the primary broadcast camera—the camera being
live-streamed to over ten million viewers worldwide.
"Betrayal in private is a tragedy," Vivian said, each word deliberate and
razor-sharp. "Betrayal coupled with corporate theft is a felony. As of this
morning, the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York
has unsealed a six-count criminal indictment against Adrian Cole and Celeste
Grant for Bank Fraud, Aggravated Wire Fraud, and Forgery."
A collective murmur swept through the press corps.
"Furthermore," Vivian announced, "effective immediately, the company has
officially rebranded to its founding heritage name: Vance Global Enterprises. We
are allocating fifty million dollars of our recovered capital to establish the
Vance Women’s Cardiovascular Research Foundation—ensuring that no woman in
critical care is ever left unprotected."

The room erupted into spontaneous applause from the journalists and industry
leaders.
Vivian stood tall at the podium, basking in the standing ovation. She had taken
the greatest humiliation of her life and turned it into the ultimate monument of
justice and empowerment.
