Chapter 13 - Handcuffs In The Penthouse: When Federal Marshals Come Knocking

While the world was celebrating our new company, justice was finally delivered

to those who had tried to destroy us.

At a rundown motel near Queens, Selena Croft was packing a duffel bag with

stolen jewelry when the door was kicked open by four FBI agents.

“Selena Croft,” the lead agent announced, flashing his badge. “You are under

arrest for conspiracy to commit corporate espionage, extortion, and interstate

wire fraud.”

Selena screamed and dropped her bag as the cold steel handcuffs clicked tightly

around her wrists, dragging her away into the back of a police cruiser.

Meanwhile, at the lobby of the bankrupt Vance corporate offices, Flynn Vance was

stopped by two federal marshals as he attempted to remove computer hard drives

from the server room.

“Mr. Vance,” the marshal said, blocking his exit. “You have been named in a

sixteen-count federal indictment for procurement fraud, falsification of

corporate records, and tax evasion.”

Flynn looked around frantically, but there were no private drivers, no

sycophantic interns, and no corporate lawyers to save him.

The handcuffs locked around his wrists in front of dozens of former employees

who watched in silence as the disgraced ex-CEO was escorted out into the

flashing red-and-blue lights of federal cruisers.
