Chapter 11 - The Mother-In-Law’s Trap: Sinking The Vance Family’s Offshore Vaults

The next morning, an unexpected visitor arrived at my corporate office at
Sterling Vanguard: Victoria Vance, Flynn’s aristocratic mother.
Victoria was a woman who had never worked a single day in her life, living
entirely off the trust dividends her late husband had established. She wore a
black mink coat and looked at me with cold, haughty indignation.
“Mabel,” Victoria commanded, sitting across from my desk without an invitation.
“This circus has gone far enough. Flynn made a foolish personal mistake, yes.
But you cannot starve the Vance family of our rightful inheritance. I demand
that you release my monthly sixty-thousand-dollar trust stipend immediately.”
I didn't flinch. I calmly opened a sleek leather folder and slid an audit sheet
across the glass desk.
“Victoria,” I said smoothly, “for the past eight years, you have been secretly
withdrawing millions from the company’s charitable foundation to fund your
private gambling debts in Monaco.”
Victoria’s haughty expression instantly crumbled into panic. “That… that was an
accounting oversight!”
“It’s wire fraud and grand larceny,” I corrected, leaning forward. “And under
Section Nine of the Trust Governance Charter, any beneficiary found guilty of
misappropriating foundation funds forfeits all future dividend rights
permanently.”
“You can’t do this to me! I am the matriarch of this family!” Victoria shrieked.
“There is no Vance family empire anymore, Victoria,” I replied, my voice
chillingly calm. “The estate has been restructured under the Sterling-King
Trust. If you want to keep your country club membership and avoid federal
prison, you will sign this non-interference agreement and move permanently to
the family’s small cottage in upstate New York.”
Victoria stared at the document, her manicured hands trembling with humiliation.

With no other choice left, she grabbed the pen, scribbled her signature, and
fled my office with her head bowed in disgrace.
