Chapter 5: The Offer That Changed Everything

Two days before Thanksgiving, I received an email from Stratix Defense Systems.
They had been watching the progress on Project Sentinel for months. They knew Daniel had started it. They knew I had taken over. Their offer was simple and staggering: they wanted to buy the entire platform outright.
The number they offered made my hands shake.
I didn’t accept immediately. I asked for time to think. But deep down, I already knew what I was going to do.

Daniel’s last gift to the world was complete.
And it was mine.
I signed the contract the next morning from my phone while sitting on the cold concrete floor.
By the time the sun rose on Thanksgiving, I was no longer just Daniel Carter’s widow.
I was a multi-millionaire.
And the new Chief Technology Officer of Stratix Defense Systems.
