Episode 14

The soldier’s gloved hands moved with mechanical precision, snapping the heavy zip-ties around Julian’s wrists. The thick plastic clicked into place, biting into his skin. Julian didn't flinch. His eyes remained locked on Leo, who was being gently but firmly guided toward the helicopter by the second masked operative.
"Julian!" Sarah choked out, trying to stand, but Echo caught her arm, shaking her head. Echo knew the math. Any movement against these men meant instant execution.
The operator pulled Julian to his feet, shoving him toward the roaring aircraft. The downdraft from the rotor blades tore at their clothes, the deafening noise drowning out the sirens below. Julian climbed into the cargo bay, his hands bound, and immediately pulled Leo against his side. The metal floor beneath them vibrated violently as the helicopter began to lift off, tilting away from the burning skyscraper.
Looking out the open bay door, Julian watched the city shrink into a grid of twinkling lights and rising plumes of black smoke. On the rooftop, the tiny silhouettes of Sarah and Echo stood frozen under the fading red glow of the emergency lights, left behind in the ruins.
The masked soldier slid the heavy bay door shut, plunging the cabin into a dull, red-tinted interior light. He sat across from the brothers, his assault rifle resting across his knees, the mirrored visor reflecting Julian’s battered, defiant face.
"Where are you taking us?" Julian shouted over the engine roar.
The soldier didn't answer. He reached over and tapped the screen of the rugged tablet mounted to the bulkhead. The live feed of their biological father flashed back to life. The older man looked up, his hollow eyes red-rimmed with tears as he stared at the screen.
"Julian... Leo... I'm so sorry," their father whispered, his voice cracking through the speaker. "I thought I could buy you time. I thought I could outsmart them."
"Who are they, Dad?" Julian pressed, leaning closer to the screen despite his bound wrists. "The Syndicate is gone. Who is running this?"
Before his father could answer, the man in the tailored grey suit stepped into the camera frame. He laid a heavy, manicured hand on their father's shoulder, a terrifyingly polite smile cutting across his face.
"The Syndicate was just a regional franchise, Julian," the man in the suit said smoothly. "A collection of greedy politicians and local judges playing with fire. They were meant to manage the local asset—your brother—and they failed miserably. We don't care about their exposure. We simply move our operations elsewhere."
The man leaned down, his eyes boring into the lens. "Your brother's blood contains the only viable synthesized strain of the Genesis compound. The local lab is ash, but the data is locked in Leo's neural pathways. You are flying to our offshore facility in international waters. Once we extract the mapping data from his memory, your father will be released. Fail to cooperate, and he dies first. Then Ms. Jenkins. Then you."
The screen flickered and went black.
Julian felt a cold, familiar weight settle into his stomach. They weren't escaping the nightmare. They were just graduating to a global scale. He looked down at Leo. The nine-year-old was staring at his own hands, his breathing even, the artificial adrenaline still keeping the hypothermia at bay.
Suddenly, Leo looked up at Julian. The fear in the boy's eyes had vanished, replaced by a strange, icy stillness that made Julian's skin crawl.
Leo leaned in close, his voice a tiny whisper that barely carried over the drone of the helicopter. "The man in the suit is lying, Juju."
Julian blinked, frowning. "What?"
"I didn't just trigger the self-destruct at the local lab before we ran," Leo murmured, his eyes darting toward the silent, masked soldier across from them. "I altered the master upload. The data Sarah's office sent to the cloud wasn't just a broadcast of the trial. It included the coordinates and IP addresses of every offshore server connected to Apex Solutions. The global authorities aren't just seizing the Syndicate's local assets. They are tracking this helicopter's destination right now."
Julian’s heart skipped a beat. He looked at his little brother, realizing the terrifying depth of what Leo had done. Leo hadn't just destroyed the local operation; he had used himself as bait to draw the architects out into the light.
"They think they are taking me to their lab," Leo whispered, a faint, dark smile touching his lips. "But we are bringing the whole world with us."
Before Julian could process the staggering implications, the helicopter suddenly pitched violently to the left.
The masked soldier snapped his head toward the cockpit as a sharp, automated alarm began to wail through the cabin speakers.
“Warning. Radar lock. Inbound bogey, closing fast.”
The soldier lunged toward the window, looking out into the night. Julian leaned across the seat, peering through the small plexiglass portal.
Through the thick clouds, three sleek, dark military fighter jets with completely blacked-out insignia materialized out of the dark, flanking the helicopter on both sides. A blinding spotlight erupted from the lead jet, pinning the helicopter in a cone of white light.
The helicopter's radio crackled to life, a commanding, unfamiliar voice echoing through the cabin: “Unidentified aircraft, you are violating restricted airspace under international maritime authority. Power down your engines and prepare for immediate intercept, or you will be shot down.”

The masked soldier immediately raised his rifle, pointing it directly at Leo’s head, his hand trembling on the trigger as the pilot threw the helicopter into a desperate, plunging dive.
Caught in mid-air between a faceless global cabal, an international military strike force, and a brother who had engineered a global trap, Julian twisted his bound wrists, bracing his body over Leo as the sky erupted in a blinding flash of anti-aircraft flares.
