Part 5: The Subterranean Ledger

The physical relocation of our lives from the Oakhurst property to an unlisted rental suite in the coastal district took less than forty-eight hours to finalize.
I sat at the wooden workstation inside my new independent studio, watching the encrypted server bars cycle through their secondary maintenance routines.
Josephine was resting in the adjacent room, the heavy, defensive silence that had defined her existence finally beginning to lift.
But at exactly 11:14 p.m. on our fifth night, a high-priority system anomaly report flashed across my primary terminal screen.
An unauthorized administrative query had just been initialized against the old, archived accounts of Miller Custom Woodworks.
The access sequence was using a dormant master key that had been assigned to Rebecca’s corporate assistant, Vance.
"Elias," Naomi Pierce’s voice came through the secure encrypted channel, her tone sharp with immediate warning parameters.
"Someone is attempting to reactivate a closed secondary asset pool that was omitted from the initial state treasury seizure."
"The account holds a balance of four point five million dollars, established under a commercial land alias in 2021," she stated.
I opened the unredacted account summaries, my fingers moving steadily across the interface to trace the destination routing path.
The data packets weren't routing to a standard financial institution or an authorized regional management group.
They were being directed to a high-end private medical clinic in Switzerland where Rebecca’s older sister was currently residing.
"They are trying to fund a secondary legal offensive to contest the child custody agreement," Naomi added.
"They believe that because you are focused on Josephine’s relocation, you won't trace the legacy utility lines."
I initialized a direct counter-intercept protocol, embedding a digital tracking watermark inside the outbound data file.
"Let the transmission proceed for exactly sixty seconds, Naomi," I ordered coldly, my jaw setting like iron.

"We are going to let them expose the identity of the offshore bankers facilitating the bypass."
The system synchronized across the network, capturing the precise physical coordinates of the terminal in Zurich.
