SHOCKING ALLEGATION: President claims Obama stockpiled secret nuclear documents.
U.S. President Donald Trump claims his predecessor, Barack Obama, withheld many classified documents after leaving office, amid the uproar surrounding the FBI raid on Trump's resort for classified materials.
"What are they going to do with the 33 million pages of documents, many of which are classified, that former President Obama brought to Chicago?" Trump questioned, alleging that Obama kept many classified documents after leaving the White House in 2017.
Earlier, Trump had repeatedly posted on the social media platform Truth Social, accusing Obama, the former Democratic president, of refusing to return documents, some of which contained nuclear information.
According to the Washington Examiner, when Obama left the White House, tens of thousands of documents were transferred to a federal government facility for safekeeping until his presidential library was completed. It is unclear whether any of these documents were classified.
FBI Discovers "Top Secret" Documents in Former President Trump's Home
The U.S. National Archives (NARA) issued a statement rejecting Trump's allegations, asserting that it stored Obama's documents in accordance with the Presidential Records Act. This 1978 act requires presidents and staff to return all documents, including classified ones, to the National Archives at the end of their term.
“NARA has transferred nearly 30 million pages of unclassified documents to a NARA facility in the Chicago area, where they are exclusively stored by NARA,” the agency stated in a press release.

“In addition, NARA holds Obama's classified documents at a facility in Washington, D.C. By regulation, former President Obama has no control over where and how NARA stores his administration's documents,” the statement added.
Former President Trump is currently facing multiple criminal and civil investigations, including allegations that he illegally stored documents from his time in office at his Mar-a-Lago resort. He maintains that the documents seized by the FBI on August 8th were all declassified and securely stored.
