Iranian President: U.S. Blockade Destined to Fail
Several Iranian officials, including President Masoud Pezeshkian, have asserted that the U.S.-imposed maritime blockade will fail to achieve its objectives.
"Any attempt to impose a blockade or maritime restrictions is contrary to international law and is destined to fail," President Pezeshkian stated in a press release today. He warned that such measures do not enhance regional security but are, in fact, a "source of tension and a disruption to long-term stability in the Persian Gulf."
On the same day, Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei declared that the U.S. "has failed" in its offensive campaign against Iran, asserting that "a new chapter is opening for the Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz."

Mohsen Rezaei (Military Advisor to the Supreme Leader): Stated that Iran will "not tolerate" the U.S. maritime blockade and stands ready to respond if the measures continue. He cautioned that a resurgence of conflict could result in heavy losses for Washington.
Mohsen Paknejad (Oil Minister): Affirmed that the U.S. "will not obtain any results" from the blockade. He noted that Iranian oil and gas personnel are working around the clock to ensure uninterrupted service delivery.

These statements follow reports from Axios, citing anonymous U.S. officials, that military leaders are expected to present President Donald Trump with potential military options targeting Iran.
The United States began blockading Iranian seaports on April 13, just days after an initial round of negotiations between the two nations ended without a resolution. The move is widely viewed as a pressure tactic to force Tehran into accepting Washington’s proposed terms.
President Trump has warned that the blockade could last for months, arguing it is more effective than a direct military strike. Meanwhile, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reported on April 29 that its forces had intercepted and turned back 42 commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
